Goals and Student Learning Outcomes

In support of our mission statement, the Norton KDH School of Radiologic Technology has set certain goals for its students in accordance with JRCERT standards. Once achieved, these goals are the foundation that help to ensure the students’ success in their careers. The goals are as follows:

1. Students will be clinically competent.

Student learning outcomes:

  • Students will apply their learned positioning skills to provide quality images.
  • Students will select appropriate technical factors.
  • Students will use proper radiation protection methods for their patients and themselves.

2. Students will communicate effectively.

Student learning outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate appropriate oral communication skills.
  • Students will demonstrate appropriate non-verbal communication skills.
  • Students will document appropriate exam information.

3. Students will use critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Student learning outcomes:

  • Students will apply critical thinking skills during the examination to formulate rational decisions.
  • Students will assess their radiographic images according to proper established evaluation criteria to formulate improvements as necessary.

4. Students will demonstrate professionalism.

Student learning outcomes:

  • Students will display a professional persona in the clinical setting.
  • Students will present a clean and organized workspace for their customers.

5. The KDH School of Radiologic Technology will meet program effectiveness requirements as set forth by the JRCERT.

Student learning outcomes:

  • Graduates will find employment within 12 months of graduation (JRCERT benchmark of ≥ 75 percent over a five-year average).
  • Graduates will pass the ARRT Radiography Registry on their first attempt (JRCERT benchmark of ≥ 75 percent over a five-year average).
  • Students who begin will successfully complete the program (Norton KDH benchmark of ≥ 80 percent each year).
